Steel 80CrV2
Carbon steel Chrome Vanadium. High hardness and edge retention.
Steel 80CrV2 carbon , steel high carbon, type steel 1080 with Chrome and Vanadio is very suitable for survival and hard works.
Its main characteristics:
- High hardness.
- High edge retention.
- High tenacity.
- Hasta 65 HRC.
Chemical Composition (%) : C: 0.85, Cr: 0.55 V: 0.25, Si: 0.30, Mn: 0.50
This action is recommended for both professionals and beginners, depending on the difficulty of working: medium.
It is administered Recocido (soft), to facilitate the work.
Heat treatment:
- Forged : 900 to 1150 ºC. Slow cooling in the heat of insulating materials (sand, salt, mica).
- Normalized : 650 ºC. To eliminate structural stresses caused by thinning forging. Recommended time, 1 hour.
- Hardening (oil) : 850 ºC. Previous heating at 750 ºC, temperature stabilized, thermal jump at hardening temperature, reached, keep less 1 minute per millimeter . Oil quench. Hardness from 63 to 65 HRC.
- Tempering : Slow heating up to tempering temperature (see temperature chart). Temperature reached 10 minutes per millimeter, minimum recommended time is 50 minutes .
It is recommended that the quenched and tempered in conservative atmosphere, see foil tempered. This heat treatment is preferred. It can vary temperatures, times or embodiment thereof, depending on your needs or experience in the process.
MATERIAL CUT THROUGH MECHANICAL PROCESS MAY HAVE BENT (NOT COMPLETELY FLAT).
